THE YURAQ PUMA LINEAGE
Foundational statement:
The Yuraq Puma Lineage is a spiritual and cultural lineage established to preserve and promote the ancient wisdom of our ancestors. The lineage is not based on blood but on a solemn commitment to a philosophy of personal power, healing, community, and respect for nature.
The Yuraq Puma Lineage traces its roots to the shaman and healer known as Maestro Kevin “Puma Blanco” Johnson” (the White Puma), who was given this title by the Andean Altomasayuq, Tiata Ascensio.
After decades of solitary shamanic practice, he felt called to share his knowledge to a wider community. He hand-selected and trained his first apprentices, emphasizing integrity, compassion, and a deep understanding of man’s true relationship to the energetic universe and the laws that govern it. These first apprentices are the original pillars of the lineage, and their teachings continue to be passed down through a structured mentorship.
Core principles:
The Yuraq Puma Lineage operates on three guiding principles, based on the teachings of Maestro Puma Blanco:
Unity with nature: Members must honor and respect all forms of life, using only what is necessary and always giving back to the earth.
Healing through empathy: The primary goal is to heal not just the body and mind, but also the spirit. This requires compassion and a deep connection to the people we serve.
Wisdom through mentorship: Knowledge is passed directly from teacher to student, maintaining a clear line of inheritance.
Membership and structure:
Apprentice: The entry-level status, for those beginning their training and who have participated in the Yuraq Puma Rite of Initiation.
Elder: A teacher who has completed their commitment to a multi-year program of study and mentorship and has completed the lineage’s apprenticeship program. An Elder has been formally recognized for their wisdom, and are responsible for mentoring the next generation of apprentices.
Council of Elders: The governing body of the lineage, consisting of the most experienced and respected Elders. This council makes all major decisions regarding the lineage's direction and succession.
Succession:
Authority within the lineage is not hereditary but is earned through merit and wisdom. The next leader, or "Guiding Puma," will be selected by the Council of Elders from among their own ranks. The choice is based on the individual's commitment to the lineage's principles and teachings, their leadership, and their compassion.
